Quickstart
From sign-up to a reviewed release and a token file in your project, in about ten minutes.
1. Create a Brand and add tokens
- Sign up at stoaken.com. You land on Overview with a short checklist.
- Click Create a Brand and give it a name (your product or design system).
- In Bring your tokens, choose Sample tokens to try things out, or upload a JSON file in the W3C design tokens format (Tokens Studio and Style Dictionary exports work).
Your tokens are now a token set, and the Brand has a Default theme that uses it. Open Tokens to see and edit them.
2. Propose a release and approve it
- On Overview, click Propose a release on the theme. Stoaken suggests a version (1.0.0 for the first) and lists what changed.
- Open the Command Center. The release waits under Pending approval with its diff and, if you have components, visual checks per mode.
- Click Approve. The release is now live.
Working alone? You can approve your own releases. When a team joins, invite reviewers from More > Members; reviewers are free on every plan.
3. Use the tokens in code
On Overview, Use these tokens downloads the live release as CSS, Tailwind, Swift, Android, Compose, JSON and more. To keep a project in sync, use the CLI:
Terminal
npx stoaken init
npx stoaken export --format css --out src/tokens.cssCommit the file. In CI, npx stoaken export --check fails when it is out of date (see CLI).
