Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Stoaken when you use the app, the API, the CLI or the MCP server.

Last updated 7 October 2026

In short

  • You own your tokens and everything else you put into Stoaken. We host and process it only to run the service for you.
  • Free stays free. Team is billed per editor through Paddle, our reseller, and you can cancel any time.
  • If Team isn’t right for you, ask within 14 days of a payment and you get that payment back.
  • Don’t misuse the service, keep your keys safe, and review what your AI agents propose: that’s what the approval step is for.

1.Who we are and what these terms cover

These terms are an agreement between you and Stoaken (“we”, “us”). They cover the Stoaken web app, the REST API, the CLI, the MCP server for AI agents, share links and anything else we offer under the Stoaken name (together, “the service”).

If you use the service for an organisation, you agree to these terms for it and confirm you’re allowed to. “You” then means the organisation as well as you.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information, and our Refund Policy explains refunds. Both are part of these terms.

2.Your account

You need to be 18 or older to create an account. Give us accurate details and keep them up to date.

You’re responsible for what happens under your account, including anything done with your API keys or by AI agents you connect. Keep keys secret, revoke ones you no longer use, and tell us at once if you think someone else has access.

Workspace Owners and Admins decide who is in their workspace and what each person can do. If someone is removed from a workspace, they lose access to it; what they contributed stays.

3.Using Stoaken fairly

You may use the service for your own design systems and your clients’ design systems. You may not:

  • break the law, or upload content you don’t have the right to use;
  • try to get into accounts, workspaces or data that aren’t yours, or test our security without our written permission;
  • overload the service, get around rate limits or plan limits, or interfere with other people’s use;
  • upload malicious code, including in component previews, which run in a sandbox for everyone’s safety;
  • resell or sublicense access to the service, or use it to build a competing product.

Component previews, visual checks and webhooks have limits that protect the service. We describe the current ones on our Pricing and Developers pages.

4.Your content

Your content is yours: tokens, themes, components, comments, releases and anything else you or your team put in. You give us permission to store, copy, process and display it only as needed to run the service for you, for example to resolve tokens, render previews, send notifications and show it to people you share it with.

We don’t sell your content, show you ads, or use your content to train AI models.

You’re responsible for having the rights to your content, and for what you share through share links and webhooks.

You can export your tokens at any time, in the app, with the CLI or through the API.

5.AI agents and the API

You can connect AI agents and other tools through the MCP server, the CLI and the REST API. They act on your behalf, with your permissions. Agents can read and propose changes; only people can approve and publish a release.

Review what an agent proposes before you approve it. We aren’t responsible for changes you or your team approve.

6.Plans, trials and payment

The plans, their limits and their prices are on our Pricing page. Free costs nothing. Team is billed per editor, monthly or yearly; reviewers and viewers are free.

New workspaces start with a 14-day Team trial. When it ends you move to Free unless you upgrade. Nothing is deleted when a plan changes. If you have more than Free allows, you can keep everything, but you can’t propose new releases until you upgrade or come back within the limits.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

Prices are shown without sales tax or VAT; Paddle adds what applies where you are. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. When editors are added or removed, Paddle adjusts the charge for the rest of the period.

We may change prices. We’ll tell you at least 30 days before a change affects you, and early customers keep their launch price for 12 months after billing starts.

7.Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel Team at any time in Settings, Billing, Manage billing. You keep Team until the end of the period you’ve paid for, then move to Free.

Refunds work as described in our Refund Policy: ask within 14 days of a payment and you get that payment back.

8.Availability and changes to the service

We work hard to keep Stoaken running and your data safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change, add or remove features. If we remove something you pay for, we’ll tell you in advance.

9.Ending your use

You can stop using Stoaken and delete your account at any time in Settings, Account.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where the law requires it. Where it’s reasonable, we’ll warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem and to export your content.

10.Our responsibility to you

As far as the law allows, the service is provided “as is”, and we don’t give promises beyond those in these terms. Exported code and resolved tokens reflect what you approved; check them before you ship.

As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost data you could have exported, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can’t be limited, including the Consumer Protection Act in South Africa.

11.Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before the change takes effect. If you don’t agree, you can cancel and delete your account before then.

12.Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of South Africa. If we have a dispute, we’ll first try to sort it out together. If we can’t, the courts of South Africa decide it, without taking away any right you have to go to the courts where you live.
