How do I

Spotlight tours: a guided look at each page

The first time you open a page, a short tour dims everything else and points out what’s there, one thing at a time. It follows your view, and you can turn it off, bring it back or replay it.

How a tour works

A tour starts by itself the first time you open a page, once the page has loaded. Everything else dims, and a small card beside the highlighted part says what it is in a sentence or two.

close the tour (it won’t start again on that page)
  • Some steps have Try it, which does the thing for you (for example, opens Design tools), then carries on.
  • Each view gets its own tour: Creative points at how things look, Developer at the table, editing and exports, Full at a bit of both. See Choose a view.
  • When something new arrives on a page you’ve already toured, a quicker What’s new tour shows just that part.
  • Tours run on computers and tablets. Phones get the simpler phone app, with no tours.
  • Every main screen has one: Overview, Tokens, the Command Center, Propose a release and a release’s review, Releases, Tokenwright, Components and Import, Icons & Logos, the Brand Book, Community, Beta, Organization and its pages, Settings, API keys and Brand settings.

Turn tours off, or back on

  1. In any tour, press Turn off, then Not on this page (only that page stops) or Not on any page (no page starts a tour by itself).
  2. To bring them back, open Settings › Appearance › Spotlight tours: switch Tours on every page back on, or a single page under By page.
  3. Show what’s new decides whether the quicker What’s new tours appear.

Tip: Your choices are saved to your account, so they follow you to any computer.

Replay a page’s tour

Open Help & feedback at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Replay this page’s tour. On a tablet it’s in More. Settings › Appearance has a Replay button for each page too. A replay works even when tours are off.
