How do I

Choose a view: Creative, Developer or Full

Put what you use most first. A view changes the sidebar’s order, what Overview leads with and how Tokens opens. It never hides anything, and it never changes what you’re allowed to do.

What each view changes

Creative
For designers. Overview leads with Your design: your Brand’s colours as swatches, then the Brand Book, Icons & Logos, Components and Figma. The sidebar puts Tokens, Components, Icons & Logos and Book first, and a quieter Developer group (folded at first) at the bottom holds Access keys (API keys), Where releases go (Release paths) and Developer docs. Tokens opens in Specimen.
Developer
For engineers. Overview leads with Build and ship: Export tokens, the CLI, API keys, Release paths, the REST API & MCP, and pairs and drift. The sidebar puts Tokens, Tokenwright and Propose a release first, with an open Build group (API keys, Release paths, Developer docs). Tokens opens as the Table and Tokenwright as the Outline, until you pick another there.
Full
Everything in its usual place, exactly as Stoaken has always been. This is the default.
  • Nothing is hidden in any view. Every page is still in the sidebar (in the list or its group), and Search (⌘K / Ctrl K) lists every page in the same order whatever your view.
  • Your role decides what you can do, in every view. A view only moves things.
  • Where a page has a lens (Specimen or Table on Tokens; Lineage, Hierarchy or Outline on Tokenwright), the one you pick there is remembered and wins over your view’s default.
  • On a phone the app is the same in every view.

Choose yours

  1. The first-run guide asks What do you mostly do?: Design picks Creative, Develop picks Developer, A bit of both picks Full. You can skip it. During the beta, the welcome screen that asks for your camp asks it too, and the guide then doesn’t ask again.
  2. Change it any time in Settings › Appearance › View. It’s saved to your account, so it follows you to any computer.
  3. Your choice wins over your workspace’s default. Use the default hands the choice back to the workspace.

A default for your team

A workspace Admin or Owner sets the view people start in, in Organization › Members, under This workspace › Default view. It’s a default, not a rule: anyone can pick their own, and theirs wins. Order: your choice, then the workspace default, then Full.

Good to know: Until the update that brings it arrives, the workspace default says so and can’t be set; everyone starts in Full and can still pick their own.
