How do I
Bring tokens in from a design tool
Get tokens you already have (from Figma, Tokens Studio, Penpot or Tailwind) into Stoaken.
From Figma, Tokens Studio or Style Dictionary
- Export your tokens as a design tokens JSON file. Tokens Studio, Style Dictionary and Figma variables plugins can all write the W3C format Stoaken reads.
- On Overview, use Bring your tokens on the Brand (or Add a token set to add another set).
- Upload a file (up to 1 MB), or Paste JSON. Stoaken checks the file and tells you plainly if something doesn’t fit the format.
- They become a token set. Nothing is published until a release is approved.
Tip: Updating tokens you already brought in? Use Replace on the token set instead: it swaps the whole set, and you propose a release to send the change for review.
From a Tailwind config
Choose Tailwind config when bringing tokens in, and give it your tailwind.config (v3) or @theme CSS (v4). Tailwind’s own defaults come in too; the Table view can pick the ones nothing uses, so you can remove them in one go.
From Penpot
Connect a Penpot file on the Penpot page and pull its tokens into a token set.
